I’m so excited to finally reveal a tiny sneak peek of this shoot from last November, which at this point feels like ages ago! But we had to keep the shoot under wraps until the online publication released the issue. This week has been totally nuts for me and I can’t believe it’s already Thursday!
So not to leave blog readers hanging….here are two photos from the shoot. A gorgeous bouquet of red roses, orchids, and peonies (I think…I’m no floral expert) from Cebolla Fine Flowers. And then a gorgeous Plexiglas menu hand-lettered by Nicole Black of The Left Handed Calligrapher.
Check out this shoot in the current issue of Nonpareil Magazine.

If I said that the models for the Dallas Winter Shootout were good, that would be the understatement of the year. THEY. WERE AWESOME.
In fact, both of our couples weren’t models at all. Our bride and groom are Corbin & Dave of Soulbox Productions. They produce Super 8mm films, so if you’re looking for something different, be sure to check out Soulbox Productions. They totally rocked it out – and would you believe they’ve been married 12 years this year! I asked if they married when they were teenagers
Our engagement couple are newlyweds Jovan & Ebony, and Ebony is owner of Ebony Peoples Events & Design. Much like myself, she’s a transplant to Texas from Michigan and is starting up her event planning firm here in Dallas. She and her hubby Jovan have become fast friends with both Cent and I, and we’re thrilled to have more married friends!
And last but not least, Prianna was our bridal model. For real, this girl, she just made photographing her effortless. With her sweet disposition and readiness to pose as asked, Prianna was awesome. Many thanks to Chelsea of Southern Fried Paper for hooking us up with her!
I love this cake. Heidi of Sugar Bee Sweets made it and it was amazing!
Alicia of bows & arrows designed all the floral. Gorgeous.

It’s almost Spring, so I thought I’d share some of the fabulous details from the Winter Shootout we hosted at the end of February. These shootouts are networking and portfolio building opportunities for photographers of all levels. It’s a great way to meet some new friends (since we photographers are often sitting in front of our computers!) and practice shooting.
The Dallas Winter Shootout was awesome! Elizabeth of After Yes and Heidi of Sugar Bee Sweets were my partners in crime, helping get all the details together. Heidi opened the doors of the Shoppes at Brownstone in Arlington for us to set up shop for the day, and it went off without a hitch. We had amazing models for the day including Corbin & Dave Baxter of Soulbox Productions, Ebony Peoples and her hubby Jovan of Ebony Peoples Events and Design, and the fabulous Prianna who we got hooked up with through Chelsea of Southern Fried Paper. See how a little collaboration can go a long way?! I’ll be posting the people photos next week!
But for now, the details! One of my favorite things to photograph (besides people) is the details. I love to capture all the little things that brides (and their planners!) put together for their wedding day. During the shootouts, we make a point to have some fun details so our participants can practice.
