She’s from Louisiana. He’s from Ohio.
She’s creative. He’s analytical.
She cleans. He cooks.
They met through a running club, that held it’s meeting at a bar. She went for the social aspect. He went for the running aspect. And even with Hurricane Gustav coming between them, and almost blowing their future meetings apart (literally), Emily and Jeff were meant to be together. They couldn’t be more different, but I think that’s the beauty that makes their relationship work in harmony.
I have the distinct pleasure to not only call Emily a colleague, but a friend as well. She’s a hair and makeup artist here in Dallas, and when she asked if I would take her engagement photos, I was more than thrilled. While I won’t be their wedding photographer, as they are getting hitched in New Orleans in March, I was more than happy to shoot their engagement!
Upon meeting Emily and Jeff at their apartment, I was greeted by their spunky chihuahua Jasmine and bigger playmate, Charlie.
Here are a few (okay, more than a few) of my favorites:
When I tasked Jeff with smooching duty, he rose to the occasion!
Thank you Emily and Jeff for braving the open field…even with whatever creepy crawly things may have been lurking.
They live a stone’s throw away from White Rock Lake, and it made for a wonderful location for engagement photos.
In case you’re wondering the deal with the flamingos, Emily and Jeff lived in a neighborhood in Baton Rouge called Spanishtown. And they told me that the “members only” emblem is the plastic pink flamingo in your front yard. Like you have to have them in order to be a legit member of the neighborhood. So we included them in their session.
You guys are too cute!

Emily and Jeff, thank you for a fantastic and fun afternoon, despite the hot weather! I wish you all the best for your wedding in New Orleans next Spring!
