So apparently, today is National S’mores Day. I was doing a little research on “reasons to celebrate” and there are days for just about everything. Even mustard!
And in honor of National S’more Day, here are a few delectable treats featuring s’mores. I know I’d be one happy camper (pun was a happy accident) if s’more were the favors at a wedding!

Today is also my cousin’s birthday, so Happy Birthday, Ana-Maria!

Yay, this week has been full of features! I’m excited that Done Brilliantly featured our French Inspired Travel Shoot! This shoot was one of my favorites from last Spring. I can’t wait for cooler temperatures to get back outside to shoot. Summer has been stifling, and I can’t wait until it’s over.

Kelly of Sweet Pea Events was the first industry friend I made after moving to Texas. She shared my plight of being a Texas transplant from MUCH cooler weather (she’s from Seattle) as well as adjusting to all things Dallas. A few months ago, she celebrated her little man’s third birthday and asked if I would take some photos. Carson is the cutest 3-year-old and he had an awesome airplane themed birthday party at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison!
Last week his birthday party was featured on the Hostess with the Mostess blog!
Be sure to check out the whole post featuring this beautiful and delicious cake from Layered Bake Shop.
I love the Olympics!
It’s hard to believe that the last time the Summer Olympics were on, I was still living in California, I wasn’t married yet, and still working at my job in publishing. My how things change in just a few short years.
My favorite events so far have been gymnastics and swimming. Although, it’s a total letdown that the games aren’t being broadcast live (except by jumping through several hoops to see them online), and it’s even more frustrating to stumble upon social media and see the results. It sucks some of the excitement out of watching, even if it is a rebroadcast.
I did my best to stay off social media and not spoil the results of the Women’s Gymnastics Team Final. I was so excited that they won! I remember when the “Magnificent Seven” won in 1996. Hard to believe that was 16 years ago! And then, in the post-final interview, hearing that most of the team had barely been born in 1996…whoa, I felt old.
And the Women’s Swim Team is amazing! I watched their relay final last night and it looked really close there for a second, and Allison Schmitt closed it out to win gold!
I’m looking forward to more of the Olympics, especially Synchronized Swimming (yes, really!), Track & Field events, and other random Olympic sports. Also, if you don’t want the results spoiled, stay off social media! Someone on Facebook ruined the results of the Women’s All-Around Final for me…but I’m trying to block it out so that when I watch later, I can act surprised. Ha.
What is your favorite Olympic event?

There’s just something special about the light in California.
Especially right at sunset, the Golden Hour, as it’s often referred to by photographers.
Maybe it’s because it’s not a million degrees. Maybe it’s because of the cool breeze coming from the coast. Maybe it’s because there are hills.
I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I love the light in California.
I was lucky enough to return to California last week for some portrait sessions, and here’s a little sneak peek at a senior session with Maddy and Katie.
