How to Have a Stress Free Wedding

Every time I go to a wedding, or photograph a wedding, I can’t help but compare it to my own wedding day. Because honestly, we had the most fun wedding, ever.

(Yep, we posed with bikers outside the biker bar)

I wasn’t stressed. I was calm and so excited about getting married! And since I had passed the reigns of “command” to our coordinator, I didn’t have to worry about a thing, and neither did my mom, aunt, or sister. It was wonderful.

It probably seems unlikely. Or perhaps impossible. But based on my own experience with our wedding, I can tell you it is possible.

Stress Free Weddings can happen (as stress free as possible, of course!). I’m sharing a few tips on how to make it happen.

Wedding Day Timelines

I think I’m declaring this week unofficial video blog week.

Three video blogs in one week! Phwew. Making videos is hard. I have so much respect for filmmakers. Seriously!

Anyway, today I’m talking about the wedding day timeline, specifically for couples who are not seeing each other beforehand. While I absolutely love it when couples opt for a First Look, it is definitely the couple’s choice. In the event where there is no First Look, the timeline gets adjusted a wee bit. Yes, a wee bit.

Tomorrow’s wedding will go like this:

2:00 – I arrive to the venue – lightingsetup, scouting

3:00 – Photography coverage begins

3:30 – Groom final prep photos, Groom and Groomsmen photos

4:00 – Bride gets into dress, final prep photos

4:30 – Bride and Bridesmaid photos

5:30 – Photos completed, Bridal Party tucked away, Detail Photos

6:00 – Guest arrive

6:30 – Ceremony

7:00 – Ceremony ends, formal family photos

7:15 – Bride and Groom Portraits

7:30 – Introduce Bride & Groom, Dinner

8:30 – Cake Cutting

8:45 – Toasts

9:00 – First Dances

10:30 – Bouquet Toss/Garter Toss

10:55 – Last Dance

11:00 – Exit

I hope this was helpful in your planning and have a great weekend!

Choosing Your Engagement Session Location

I love shooting engagement sessions for my couples. Engagement sessions are a perfect time for me to get to know you as a couple, see what your love looks like, and for you to spend time together. And I just happen to photograph it.

Clients often ask how the location of the engagement session is chosen. It’s simple, really. You choose it. Yes, that’s right. I want you to choose your engagement session location….it’s what I talk about in the video below.

Video notes:
– You, the client, chooses the engagement session location
– If you’re totally stumped, I help you think of some locations
– Ultimately, you make the final decision of where
– Choosing the location engages you in the process, thus making it that much more personal!

Model Call…

Real women model call, that is.

I’ve got a little something up my sleeves this Spring and I need your help to make it happen. I’m sprucing up my portraits portfolio and I’m looking for a few lovely women to help me! No modeling skills required, just the willingness to be in front of the camera and get pampered in the process. Sound good?

I’m looking for the following women:

1 high school senior girl/college freshman
1 recent college grad/career woman
1 mom of young kid(s)/new mom
1 mom of teenagers/college students
1 retired woman/grandmother

You’ll receive the royal treatment, hair & makeup, a photoshoot with me and a credit towards portraits. Oh and you’ll look amazing, so you’ll definitely want to plan a night out with your husband/boyfriend/friends/loved ones!

Interested? Want to nominate a woman in your life? Please email me at catie [at] catieronquillo [dot] com with your name, location (Dallas/Fort Worth only), three unique things about you (hair color or eye color do not count as unique), and a recent photo of you (an iPhone photo is totally fine).
