Do you listen to This American Life?
I didn’t until just a few years ago when my cousin told me I just HAD to. And then, funnily enough, while I was visiting the same cousin in New York two years ago, we ran into the host of This American Life, Ira Glass, on the street. Literally. Like, my cousin shoulder swiped Ira Glass (by accident of course!), just as he was exiting a building. And that’s when I discovered the wonders of This American Life, and the stories of ordinary people that come alive each week. It’s definitely one of my favorites for plane rides, as it’s available for download via the podcast on iTunes.
Anyway, I came across this video thanks to Mary Marantz, and it’s just too good not to share. It came across my computer screen with perfect timing, and it’s a great reminder to keep pushing forward. That even if my work is not in the place I expected it to be by now, that doesn’t mean it won’t get there someday. I just need to keep on working and pushing along. And even with ups and downs (last week was a doozy), I know that with perseverance and daily motivation, I can make things happen. Ira Glass, you’re a wise one.
If you have two minutes, watch this video.
And if you’ve never listened to This American Life before, I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to get through a long flight or an hour on the elliptical machine at the gym.
