Redefining Beauty

02.03.2011

I’ve been working on a project for the last few months and it’s been totally under wraps. I’m so excited to finally see it all come together!

Ever since I attended the Making Things Happen Intensive and The Simple Plan last year, I’ve been honing my mission statement and purpose for my business. I not only want to create beautiful images for my clients to enjoy, but also help them see how beautiful they are and how precious their love is.

Along the way of this journey, while exploring ways to further my purpose, something that has been on my heart is the idea or notion of beauty. We live in a society of conflicting views of what is beautiful. Some think you have to be a supermodel in order to be beautiful. Some have written posts about how they find overweight people offensive. And as someone who is far from model size, I find it so discouraging that the media tells us we need to be a certain size in order to be beautiful. I want to help women see that they are gorgeous just as they are. I want to help shift the notion of beauty in a new direction.

In short, I want to redefine the face of beauty, one woman at a time.

Announcing a new division of Catie Ronquillo Photography…

Boudoir Affair Trousseau of Dallas Red Velvet Sessions Boudoir Photography Catie Ronquillo

After the first few sessions, I witnessed just how empowering it is for a woman to feel and know that she is beautiful. My clients walked in nervous and cautious, excited to shoot, but scared of being embarrassed, prefacing me with the flaws only they could see. As the sessions progressed, with their hair and makeup done, some coaching from me, and looking absolutely fabulous, I saw a new-found confidence emerge and their self-esteem soar. The nerves were gone and they let their personalities shine, letting that inner diva come out to play. They were able to see just how beautiful they are, and believe it.

And that’s what this is about, showing women how gorgeous they are.

I’m so so so excited to announce the boudoir division of Catie Ronquillo Photography called Red Velvet Sessions (if you know me, this shouldn’t be a surprise!). My goal is to create beautiful, sophisticated images that my clients will love and be proud of. Are you interested in a boudoir shoot for yourself or perhaps as a gift to someone special? Then join us next week, Thursday, February 3, from 6-9 at Trousseau of Dallas for the official unveiling of Red Velvet Sessions!

Also, I want to keep things on here wedding-focused, so a new site will be launched just in time for the event next week!

I have to thank the talented artists who came together to make this possible:

Nasrin Hormozi of Trousseau of Dallas: lingerie styling
Ladna Amin of November Lily: shoot styling
Sonia Trevino: hair stylist
Kay Castro: make up artist

Catie – this is amazing. I’ve enjoyed watching your photography journey and just when I think you can sit back and enjoy your success, you do something else so so good I know it is going to take you to the next level. Ultra extra cool.
