Birthdays in a Facebook World.

Today I turn 28.

I awoke in my dark hotel room with only a sliver of light coming in through the curtains. I picked up my iPhone to find that 47+ people had posted on my Facebook wall. Ah, birthday celebrations in a social media world. I love it.

I’ve always been the type who has enjoyed celebrating my birthday. I don’t really focus on the fact that I’m technically a year older, because really, it doesn’t feel that different, but more on the celebration of the outpouring of love from people who care about me. While I was never huge on having a birthday party as a kid, I always enjoyed going out to dinner with my family and friends. I actually like the singing by waiters in restaurants (even if it makes me turn bright red in the face). I love the free special desserts with a single that are brought to you. And of course, this should go without saying, I LOVE BIRTHDAY CAKE.

But on the other side of that, I don’t want to be the person who is all like, “LOOK AT ME IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!” Because that’s annoying. Thanks to social media, I don’t have to do that…Facebook does it for me.

So to all this to say, THANK YOU. Thank you for your outpouring of love. Thank you for the birthday wishes. My birthday wouldn’t be so special without all of you!

Although, not going to lie, part of me kinda would be into wearing the Disneyland button that says, “It’s my birthday!” here in Vegas.

I can’t wait to get home and see Cent!
