Wrapping Gifts & Stuffing

Last night:

I was sitting on the sofa as the credits rolled at the end of Tyler Perry’s A Family that Preys.

“What do you like to do in the kitchen?” she asked.

I pretended I didn’t hear her and looked at Cent telepathically saying, “WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?”

Cent’s Granny continued, “What do you like to do in the kitchen? Cook or bake?”

“Bake…” I replied cautiously.

Then Cent’s mom mentioned that she still needed to wrap gifts. And unbeknownst to my new family, wrapping gifts is right up my alley. It’s a little known fact that I LOVE WRAPPING PRESENTS. I quickly volunteered for the job, much to my mother-in-law’s delight, hoping that it would excuse my time in the kitchen.

“You know that doesn’t get you out of helping in the kitchen,” Granny announced.

“Dangit!” I whispered under my breath. Luckily, she didn’t hear me. I smiled and said, “Oh, I know.”

Some handiwork from last night:

Well the cooking didn’t start today. And I’ve been assigned gift wrapping duty (probably for every Christmas we spend with Cent’s family). I think the cooking starts tomorrow.

This evening my mother-in-law asked me, “You know how to make stuffing, right?”

“Nope…” I sheepishly smiled. “But I can learn. Or at least follow directions.”

She laughed. As usual. I’m glad she thinks I’m funny.

The Christmas tree (taken with my iPhone):

And with that, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Wherever you may be, give thanks, make amends, hug your loved ones, and celebrate.

Oh, and if you’re me, figure out how to make stuffing.
