Andre 3000 or Cent?

So me and Halloween? We’ve had this love-hate relationship since about 7th grade. I’m not sure what it is.

As a kid my mom used to make our costumes. I have memories of being an elephant when I was a toddler, Garfield (both my sister and I were Garfield that year), Pocahontas, and then… I hit that weird stage of adolescence where I thought that dressing up for Halloween was so uncool. And the last time that I dressed up for Halloween was in college. I was a pirate, arrrrr!

This year, we were invited to a Halloween party. A Halloween costume party. So as not to be a total party pooper, I conjured a costume. Sort of anyway. An afro wig I found at Target two days before Halloween, and called it a Diva Foxy Cleopatra of sorts.

And my husband? Bet you didn’t know he was Andre 3000’s stand-in.

Maybe one day I’ll like Halloween again. Maybe. But I must say that the best part of Halloween is hands down the candy.

And this year, we planned ahead and bought candy a week before the Trick-or-Treaters arrived. Our mistake? We opened the bags of candy. And ate most of it. Yesterday, at 5pm, I took a tally of what we had left. One Snickers, three KitKats, two Twix, and seven Crunch fun size bars. Needless to say, we made a run to Walgreens.

Well hello, November!
