The moment Blake saw her, he knew. He knew that there was something special about her. This is how he recounted the story to me.
He was in the church choir and a buddy had brought along a friend that Sunday. Her name was Nikki. And she had the greatest laugh. Except, when they met, Blake didn’t make the greatest first impression. In fact, his first words to Nikki were meant to be facetious, but the delivery was a little more…snarky. And Nikki though, WHO IS THIS GUY? Whoops. But soon that misstep became a thing of the past and the two got to talking. And thanks to a little bit of social media, they were able to connect again, one on one.
Without accidental snarky comments. Where Blake could let his real charm shine. And open doors for her like a gentleman. Nikki was hooked.
And Blake knew. He just knew that Nikki was special. That she was the one.
Nikki knew Blake was the one. And while she anticipated a proposal at some point, she didn’t know when. Blake orchestrated a perfect surprise, including contacting her parents, making arrangements, and popping the question on the beach in Hawaii. All unbeknownst to Nikki.
I had a blast hanging out with Nikki and Blake and getting to know them better. I love it when sessions don’t feel like a business transaction, but like a casual a hang out session with new friends. Nikki has the type of smile that lights up a room and the kind of laugh that cajoles laughter from even the frowniest person. And it’s clear to me that they two are in love, with their loving nuances, the way they look at each other, and the care for each other that just radiates and warms the heart.
I’m so excited for their wedding in April! I know it’s going to be an amazing time!!
