I met Ana and Mike on a warm October afternoon at the Texas State Fair. The country’s capital of all things fried. From funnel cake to Fletcher’s corny dogs, to specialty items like Fried Frito Pie, Fried Cheesecake, and Fried Butter. Yes, Fried Butter. How one fries butter, I’m not sure, but you can get it at the Fair. I believe this year they introduced Fried Beer and Fried Guacamole. I guess you can fry anything. Just about.
Having only been to the fair once before, Ana and Mike led me around areas I had never even seen. They introduced me to a legit Fletcher’s corny dog (not to be confused with a run of the mill corn dog). And they showed me that if you grow up in Texas, you learn to two-step. Mike joked that they teach you at the DMV before they issue you a license. I wish that were true, because I was impressed by their 30-second demonstration.
Most of all, I had a blast hanging out with Ana and Mike and photographing their Beloved Session. A Beloved Session is a photo session for a couple in love, simply put. And when Ana suggested we shoot at the Fair, I was excited, having never shot there before. Thank you Ana and Mike for a fun afternoon, and happy belated first anniversary! Here’s to many, many more!
