A Year of Thanks in a Week: Friends, Clients & the Wedding Community

11.28.2009

There’s no way anything in my business would be possible without friends, clients, and the wedding community. I’m thankful for my friends for being my first trial clients.

I’m thankful for my clients, for trusting me and welcoming me into your lives.

I’m so very thankful for the leaders and friends in the wedding community that extend beyond the realm of photographers.

I’m thankful for having had the opportunity to meet Lara Casey of Bliss Event Group, Lara Casey Reps, and editor-in-chief of Southern Weddings Magazine. She’s an amazing business woman and just inspiring to listen to.

I’m thankful for Sage Wedding Pros. Over the last year, it’s popularity has exploded, and I’m so fortunate to know one of the founders, Kelly Simants, owner of Dallas-based Sweet Pea Events. Actually, it was Michelle Loretta of mmm…Paper who virtually introduced me to Kelly. The sage advice they share on their blog is a huge asset to anyone with a wedding business.

I’m thankful for Liene Stevens of Splendid Communications. She’s a social media maven of the wedding industry. Her daily blog, Think Splendid provides all kinds of social media advice, blogging tips, and tips for your wedding business.

I’m thankful for the Public Relations guru of the wedding world, Leila Khalil, owner of Be Inspired PR. I met her at Liene Steven’s blogging workshop in San Francisco earlier this year. Since the workshop, she’s launched an amazing wedding blog, Inspired By This, with daily inspiration and tips. If you need some PR coaching, contact Leila.

While I haven’t had the chance to meet Ami of Elizabeth Anne Designs, it was an early favorite wedding blog. When I first started researching for our wedding, I found EAD and quickly added it to my Google Reader. I’m thankful for all that Ami does!

I’m thankful for the wedding community that has evolved out of Weddingbee. My former co-worker was Mrs. Tomato, and she was the reason I started reading Weddingbee. I was instantly hooked, months before Cent popped the question. It’s thanks to the boards on Weddingbee that my first clients found me. Thank you!

Hope you had a blessed and bountiful Thanksgiving! And some good rest if you braved the Black Friday Sales!

Comment #2 =) P.S. I can’t believe that you have a minimum limit on how much you have to have written in a comment =P

I’m still bitter that I don’t have pictures. Single people like to look at themselve too. Does this comment count for cans or am I just getting carried away?

Hey! That’s me and Mr. Downs! You’re quite welcome, Catie. We loved doing it and got a favorite pic from it. Plus, we’re beautiful so you had a lot to work with.
