So I’m a klutz. There’s no doubting that. In fact, I’m clumsier than I’d like to admit. I’m the type of person who will walk into door frames, hit protruding corners, get belt loops hooked on handles, run into walls (yes, it’s happened), and trip UP a step. It’s not pretty. Funny thing is that I used to dance ballet. That involves grace. And balance. I should revisit that activity.
In the last few weeks that I’m at my office job, we’ve been getting ready to move upstairs. I’m not exactly looking forward to moving back into a cubicle after having an office. Scratch that, I’m dreading to moving back into a cube. But I guess it’s only for six more weeks.
Here is my office, please excuse the clutter, it’s worse than usual due to the move:
This is my whiteboard with some of my work action items, as well as inside joke notes from my coworkers who keep me sane.
See, I have (or had) an office with a door! I’m sad to see it go.
Pretty soon this will be my official name, when I move to Texas. My best work friends dubbed the moniker.
And so back to the story that has to do with klutziness. Well, I was cleaning up my office, getting rid of old files and old books. I had an orange crate in my path. Instead of being smart and moving it out of my way, I decided it would just be faster to step over it. I made it over a couple of times, so I didn’t think twice about it. On about the fourth pass, I tripped. And fell. And hit my shoulder on the door handle. And my leg slammed into the crate, which consequently dented the wall. Go me.
Here are the crates in question:
In attempts to decrease and alleviate swelling inflammation I iced my leg while I was at work. Thinking that I was smart, I iced it for maybe ten minutes. Of course, I didn’t wrap it in something, I didn’t have anything to wrap it in. As a result, I freezer burned my leg on top of my bruise. Note to self: always wrap cold packs before icing body parts.
Goodbye office. Hello new bruises.
If you are clumsy like me, or “an accident waiting to happen” as my co-worker Elizabeth said, make sure to move things out of the way. Thankfully, I didn’t sprain anything. It would be AWFUL to have to walk down the aisle with crutches due to my own stupidity and klutzy tendencies.
However, I must say that while I’m on a photoshoot, balance seems to appear just in time. Or something like that.
Are you clumsy like me?
