Anytime : Vanessa | Juris Doctor | San Francisco

Congratulations to my friend Vanessa! She just graduated from Law School at Santa Clara University. She’s now busy studying for the California Bar Exam.

I’ve known Vanessa since we studied abroad in Lyon, France, through the University of California Education Abroad Program. She was quiet at first. Emphasis on at first. The shyness quickly melted away and we became fast friends. Since then, we’ve had many crazy adventures. She always makes me laugh. Without even trying. She’s so full of life and so herself…if that makes sense.

Whenever I think of Vanessa, I never remember that she’s a lawyer in the making. I guess that’s because she’s so fun and spirited. I don’t usually associate lawyers with being fun or spirited. Of course, what the heck do I know about lawyers?! Not much. But Vanessa has her serious side. Her studious side. The lawyer side. The combination of these qualities creates the essence of Vanessa. She’ll keep you guessing, but in a good way.

A couple of weeks ago Vanessa asked me if I’d take some photos of her. Of course, how fun!

We started at Lori’s Diner right off of Union Square in San Francisco.

Then we headed out onto Union Square. I asked Vanessa to channel her inner America’s Next Top Model.

The story behind this set. Well, Vanessa and I were walking from one corner of Union Square to the other. We saw this guy with red denim and a black shirt. We jokingly whispered that she should take a picture with the guy. But they were walking ahead of us and we didn’t bother. Then we arrived at the stairs and ran into the guy with the red pants and his friends. He approached us and asked for a picture. Et voila!
